Centrifuge Filters, Centrex Sterile and Non-Sterile, with Cellulose Acetate, Nitrocellulose or Nylon Membranes
Overview
Centrex centrifuge filters are offered in a range of filtration and separation media. They allow a rapid and simple preparation of a large number of samples and have considerably reduced contamination risk when working with radioactive biologically hazardous material.
The Centrex centrifuge filters are available in 1.5 mL and 5.0 mL sterile and non-sterile, with a choice of Cellulose Acetate, Nitrocellulose and Nylon membranes.
These disposable centrifugal microfilters feature a two-chamber design. Samples introduced in the upper chamber are driven by centrifugation through the central membrane filter into a receiving tube. These units yield up to 99% recovery when used with a standard benchtop centrifuge. Preassembled, available presterilized and constructed of chemically resistant polypropylene, the filters have 1.5 or 5.0mL receiving tubes. Cellulose acetate (CA), nitrocellulose (NC) and nylon membranes are available in 0.2µm and 0.45µm pore sizes (0.8µm available with sterile CA membrane and 1.5 mL tube) to meet most separation needs.
Applications include use of cellulose acetate 0.45 µm membranes for the rapid elution of agarose gels and nylon or cellulose acetate membranes for the removal of particles and microorganisms from HPLC samples. Other applications include sample preparation for quality control, filtration of very highly loaded samples or as a pre-filter before a further filtration step. Cellulose acetate and nitrocellulose membranes are useful for rapid clearing and filtration of aqueous solutions.
